The painted HDF finish requires a labour-intensive process. The painted panels have 10 layers applied to each panel: 2 layers of pore sealer, 4 layers of primer, 2 layers of paint, and 2 layers of clear lacquer. Each layer must dry for 24 hours before the next layer is applied.
To achieve the gloss finish, once all layers are applied, the surface is then polished by hand which is a delicate and time consuming operation.
